B+W Basic Courses
If you have an old film camera; some black and white film you shot in 1997 (or 1971.., 1984…, 2012); some negatives handed down from a relative; a curiosity for the pace, craft and drama of making your own black and white images, or a nostalgia for the magic of the photographic process, this course could be the perfect introduction to taking, processing and printing your own high quality monochrome photographs.
Whether you’re into photographing gigs, making intimate portraits, documenting street life, architecture, nature; if you’re inspired by the documentary greats, young Turks, historical processes, fashion, pinhole, lomo and the rest…: learning about cameras, how to make great negatives, and how to print them well… these are the down-home fundamentals of photography. If you have a DSLR and work with Photoshop, you’ll be surprised by how you can outstrip digital black and white results with an 80 quid camera and a little patience in the darkroom.
It’s a whole old ball-game.
