It’s great to be embarking on a programme of Arts Council England Project Fund supported activity at Darkroom Birmingham.
The project has the following objectives:
1. To deliver an accessible and efficient test bed exhibition programme, open to international collaboration, using Darkroom Birmingham space, equipment and platform.
2. To establish at Darkroom Birmingham an Associates programme for photography project development and co-working.
3. To develop the organisation to best serve the needs of progressive photograhic practice in the W. Mids and beyond.
4. To explore and test diverse options for organisational and financial sustainability for the Darkroom Birmingham project.
The first exhibition, Postcards from Lebanon, will launch alongside the first Balsall Heath Second Saturday, on the 8th October. We’ll be presenting work examining contemporary Lebanon by 3 photographers: Tarek Mourad, Paul Gorra and Dan Burwood. Print sale proceeds will go to Swiss Meds 4 Lebanon.
We’re also very excited to announce artist 2 £1000 bursaries for the production of photographic exhibitions at Darkroom Birmingham. To read about the call and to find out how to apply, click here.
