This workshop, combined with Introduction to Black and White Printing, gives you the basic knowledge to explore traditional black and white process in the darkroom. It is suitable for novices, those with digital photographic experience, and photographers wanting to consolidate or refresh their knowledge or practice. With 25 years experience leading photographic workshops your tutor will cover the fundamental technical and practical aspects of traditional silver based darkroom practice.
The workshops take place on Friday evenings, 6.30-9pm with the printing workshop on the afternoon of the next day:
Friday 15th November 2024
Friday 29th November 2024
Friday 13th December 2024
Friday 17th January 2025
Friday 7th February 2025
Who it’s for
The workshop is aimed at those with some previous photographic knowledge to professional digital practitioners who want to expand their traditional process knowledge. Please bring an exposed black and white film to develop. Complete novice photographers are welcome, but a working knowledge of photographic exposure will be useful to take this practice forward.
If you’re an absolute beginner, a photographer not confident with using an analogue camera to expose a film correctly, or you don’t yet have a camera, the workshop will still be useful but do contact me about arranging a loan camera and film tutorial, if you’d like a roll to develop yourself at a workshop. If there’s enough demand for this content, I’ll look into arranging dates.
